Susan Goettsche

Susan was born in Illinois but has resided in Houston for over 30 yrs.

Susan paints a variety of subjects: Still lifes, portraits, abstracts, figurative pieces -- all of which are found in her body of work. A member of the Post-Diversionists art group, Susan combines different artistic styles, such as Realism and Impressionism, to create dynamic compositions that are original and rich in color and texture.

Throughout the oeuvre of her artistic endeavors, Susan continually remains fresh in her approach to materials, subject matter, perspective, etc… Versatile in all media, Susan is currently working in acrylics and charcoal.

She has found that commissions for art projects ranging from small, individual paintings to large-scale works such as murals have been a fruitful outlet for her artistic production.

"Many artists find something that sells and then produce a series of work that reflects that one piece, hoping to continue that success. Galleries cater to artists that can produce that one look that will sell. I like to create a series of five or six works on a theme, and then move on to another concept using a different medium. For me, this is the only way to create art that lives."

Martin De Vore: Art reviewer for Art Valet
"Susan Goettsche manages to succesfully navigate the realms of both abstract and representational art. Whether she is executing a portrait, a landscape or an abstract, Goettsche's work captures the essence of the moment -- the literal or the fanciful."
