ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Door is a glimpse into the inner world. The tension between the rigidity of the Door’s form and the fluidity and gentleness of the observed scene is to accentuate the tension between external realities and world of senses.
Shadow is philosophically the lack of communication and the loss of realities. It is the concealed, secret, rejected self. At the same time, it tells of an inhibition of emotions and an incarceration without hope of freedom. It has no freedom, because it cannot move independent of its reality (owner). Shadow, is an inner delusion.

Structurally, light and shadow is used to a dramatic effect. Shadow, is the indication of the object that it shadows. Shadow, is void of any reality.
Doors here are stylized. Had I attached handles, I would have given access to the observed. For that reason they have no handles and that is because I do not grant the viewer the right to open or close the Door.  I, and only I, who can decide on the extent of the scene to be shown, have that right.
