Artist Statement based on the Paper Dolls artwork:
My art is driven by the unruly and spiritual enthusiasm enveloped in all my being.
The cultural motivation and passion concentrated in my work is refined by the thoughts and spiritual experiences whish shaped my temperament.
I am specially interested in the reflection of art upon trust , annoyance , upon all of which is real and all of which is different yet inspirational and throbbing ;
as well as anything that might be simple and poised , though at the same time , peculiar enough to be obsessive.
Although my sensitive , passionate and restless temperament my art work is not about rage or fashion ,it is often times about the shaping of a more permanent and invariable reality that contours the senses and sagacity of others. The acumen of my thought process rely on the space and suitability of the craft I choose to work with , whatever material may be near to me : pelt, boxes, oils , dirt . wire , stones , paint , rope ,fabrics , sand , toys , paper , etc..
The women torsos are maquettes of day to day experiences that focus on the awkward vigilance of women's ease. It is a straightforward statement of confidence and foulness in the eye of the beholder ,even in the eye of women themselves. ...In our ability to recognize our likeness or any broken vision of life and power.
This torsos encourage the instinctively vision of curiosity , they have the gift of power for those who catch. They are not regular torsos but tatter projects of the fable experiences of women of all ages and times. These torsos gamble between what is genuine and what is at stake in women's lives. They are maquettes not unusual to the reality of women since they expand upon the potential of what we dwell and breath every moment of our hasty existence. We all are :young, old , lovers , mothers , daughters , teachers , administrators , secretaries , nurses , artists ,....aggressive , timid , promiscuous... , who wait on pain , joy, need , violence and creation itself.
However , some of these torsos are not frayed but torn ; some are somber yet colorful ; others are threatening though lighthearted. One thing is true : they are all as authentic and inflexible as any fact which might outline any body's mind or wisdom.
I am very happy and honored to be among all the artists represented in this exhibit. I am pleased to share my work and hope it will excite all involved on it. I invite you to touch the torsos with passion and curiosity and let your imagination shape your inquisitive will !
