And so it goes...

Lilia Fernandez

My training in photography has been the accumulation of many hours spent on books and years of practice. My inspiration began from the creation of God, my desire to convey both the beauty of the universe as well as everyday life experiences that often go unnoticed, but which are nonetheless important; because to me the spiritual or mental success or defeat is the accumulation of the simple things in our daily lives.

Art is the necessity of giving and sharing, art has no countenance, boundaries, age, social or cultural level. Art is an emotion that it is able to go through like an arrow directly to the mind and heart. Art is a source that allows me to express the steps of life that I walk with passion and intensity, not letting a single moment. Photography is my secret getaway, my poetry without words, my feelings with form.

Being a single mom with two daughters to feed and dress in a foreign country was one of the biggest challenges of my life. It was a constant struggle between the things I wanted to do and the things I had to do, of course my family went my priority. However, in my free time I practiced photography.

Today however, is the result of waiting with patience, faith and optimism for my turn to carry out one of my most desired dreams, to dedicate more time to photography and share my pictures with the world.

I thank God for his love and fidelity, to my sister Maria Rosa, my two daughters Otilia and Yenisei and, to my family and all my friends that without their support I would have not discovered the gift that I possess. I would also like to thank my two countries; Mexico for giving me life and the United States for giving me the opportunity to make my dreams come true. Lastly, I want to thank all of you for being here today and sharing this wonderful day with me.
