We are developing avenues to provide extensive industry research and professional development opportunities for individual artists and community art leaders via specialized programs and services, including a content-rich website and a series of educational conferences, art expos and an annual international convention.

How did it start?

The World Art Foundation was created in 2008 as a sister organization to the Art & Fashion Group International (A&FG). Jojo Marengo founded A&FG in 1984 to unite the physical enhancement artists of the world. At its height the group had over 100 chapters in the USA and representation in 25 countries in 5 continents with over 7,000 members. It produced in excess of 600 events a year (attracting from 50 to 5,000 attendees). The founder, Jojo Marengo, is the publisher of 21 luxury magazines and father to Monique and Antoine Marengo.

The World Art Foundation is dedicated to uniting some 5,000 local and cyber organizations under its umbrella, while helping them maintain their individual identities. Through common effort, this union will provide improved tools to advance support for the arts. If your organization or group wishes more information on joining us, please contact jojo@worldartfoundation.org

“Create, through the universal language of art, a meaningful and enduring dialogue among diverse peoples, cultures, and world views in order to encourage the emergence of a new society of extraordinary talent.”

WORLD MASTERS OF THE ARTS AWARD

Coming in June to the World Art Expo 09 in California

Cinema has the Oscars, theatre has the Tonys, music has the Grammys and the best artists have The World Masters of the Arts Awards.

Jojo Marengo, founder of the World Art Foundation, states that world artists throughout the ages have been celebrated for their art. Every pope, king and emperor had, in their retinue, painters and sculptors of distinction.

It is time to bring that luster back

There are extraordinary talents all over the world that are waiting to be discovered, acknowledged and recognized. And they will be recognized this summer at The World Masters of the Arts Awards. The World Academy of Fine Arts, the educational consortium of The World Art Foundation, has established the by-laws by which the candidates are selected - based on the following criteria:

The World Masters of the Arts are established artists who have been acknowledged by their peers as extraordinary. The uniqueness of their style is unequaled in their genre. Their work is celebrated as legendary and worthy of the finest galleries, art centers and museums.

As these will be the first such awards delegations are presently forming in over 25 countries to attend the festivities

The first recipient will be forever in the world annals as the first World Master of the Arts recipients.

The Award will be bestowed this year to ten extraordinary artists. The World Master or the Arts Award dinner ceremony will take place at the World Art Expo 09 on June 7-14.

WAF EXPO LAS VEGAS II MAY 7-10, 2010.

Its happening!
The air is light, the spirit festive and the drinks cold in Downtown, where, once a month the pedestrian-friendly streets transform into a huge block party during FIRST FRIDAY. Each celebration, the entertainment shifts and multiplies as ice sculptors, fire breathers and fortune tellers serve as a back-drop for this ongoing festival of art perusal and appreciation. Local bands perform throughout the evening, and the streets turn into canvasses for children (young and old) to decorate with chalk. FIRST FRIDAY is a stage for local galleries and Las Vegas' vital Downtown cultural scene. It's a place to meet friends new and old, and rejoice in the preservation and innovation of an historical neighborhood. In this land of suburbs and strip malls, visitors come from near and far to people-watch

18b Arts District

In downtown Las Vegas’ Arts District you will find an eclectic mix of galleries, one-of-a-kind stores, and restaurants just a short walk or bus ride from Fremont Street. Known as "18b," the Las Vegas Arts District is located immediately south of downtown Las Vegas in an area bounded by Commerce Street, Hoover Avenue, Fourth Street and Las Vegas Boulevard (at Charleston) and Colorado Avenue.

The name, "18b," represents the original Arts District area, which consisted of 18 blocks. Today, the Arts District area has grown beyond those original 18 blocks and is a classic urban mix of residential, commercial and cultural uses that will continue to grow as the hub of the arts scene in Las Vegas.

On the first Friday of each month, an arts and cultural event is held in the district. The "First Friday" festival draws up to 10,000 visitors into the neighborhood. This event encourages people to flock downtown to browse, buy, eat, drink and mingle. The event is a festive environment with food and beverage vendors, music, visual performances and artists displaying their works.

The city of Las Vegas partners with the Arts District during First Friday  events. The city provides free rides on city of Las Vegas arts buses between all First Friday stops.

Las Vegas Strip
18b The Las Vegas Arts District, NV

Just south of down town is the Las Vegas Art District that spans across 18 blocks of contemporary commercial architecture. This area is best when visited on the First Friday of every month when an open street carnival is held. The area has produced a fine collection of talented architects, artists, and photographers. Buildings graced with angled shop fronts and canopies create a ritzy atmosphere that deserves exploration. Within this area that was once very rundown and almost forgotten includes art galleries, antique stores, small boutiques, cafés, condominiums, and furniture stores.
