Dar Freeland
Dar Freeland was born and educated in Los Angeles, California. In 1994, she seized an opportunity to relocate her company Cricket Studio, to Las Vegas; opening her graphics and illustration studio in The Arts Factory - the heart of Las Vegas’ celebrated 18B Arts District.
Freeland specializes in design, illustration and animation and enjoys writing, photography and photo collage. She is involved with work in film production and publishing. She also maintains working studios in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, traveling regularly between the two.
Freeland's education focused on fine art photography, and she enjoys photocomposition, creating large-scale collage work. In addition, every couple of years, she creates a Mandala sand painting (cricketstudio.com/mandala) done in the Tibetan tradition - once created, it is deconstructed - or swept away.
Co-founder of Cricket Studio (design & illustration studio) in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Dar Freeland has introduced her line of Fine Art Illustrations and Works on Canvas in her Face Up Gallery in Las Vegas, (located inside Cricket Studio and at faceupstudio.com). She also produces single panel cartoons that can be seen on her weblog called Face Up Blahg (faceupstudio.com/blahg). In addition, Freeland has authored and will publish her second book based on her Face Up artwork in 2009.
Additionally in 2009, Freeland plans to launch her first animated short film and numerous products based on the Face Up characters and philosophy. She currently resides in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
